Paintball Commander & Hound Commander · Last updated 2026-08-30

This policy explains what data our apps collect, how it is used, and the choices you have. It covers Paintball Commander and Hound Commander, which share one account system and one server. Both are operated by ComplexIT ("we", "us"). Everything below applies to both apps unless it says otherwise; the section Hound Commander covers what is specific to the tracker.

Information we collect

How we use your information

We do not use your data for cross-app or cross-site tracking, and the app does not include third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.

How your information is shared

Hound Commander (the tracker app)

Hound Commander turns a spare phone into a GPS tracker - typically strapped to a dog's harness. It is the sending half of the product; the map is in Paintball Commander, on your own phone. Three things about it differ from the description above.

A separate account is created for each tracker, by you. When you pair a tracker, our server creates an account for that device and gives it an e-mail address derived from yours (for example you+sixten@example.com), so any mail about it reaches your own inbox. You never type a password on the tracker phone, and the tracker never signs in as you - this is what keeps the dog's position and your own apart on the map.

The position is the dog's, but the data is yours. We describe it plainly because it is easy to assume otherwise: a track from a phone on your dog usually shows where you walked, at what time, starting and ending at your home. It is personal data about you, it is stored against an account you own, and it is treated exactly like your own position history - including your right to have it deleted.

The tracker identifies its device. At pairing, the app sends an identifier it generates itself, plus the phone's model name (for example "moto g04"). This exists so that two identical phones on one account can be told apart in your list. It is not a hardware serial number, not an advertising identifier, and it is reset if the app is reinstalled. It is never used for tracking or shared with anyone.

When the tracker reports. A phone tracker reports only while it is part of a pass you have started and selected it into. Between passes it reports nothing. A separate GPS device paired to your account reports whenever it is switched on, including outside a pass - that is what such a device is for, and storing what it sends is the service you asked for by pairing it. Either way, the last known position stays visible to you. The tracker phone also keeps its own copy of the positions it recorded, on that phone, so you can see the walk without coverage - that copy is deleted with the app.

The track is kept only with premium. Without a premium subscription we store only the tracker's latest position - enough to show it on the map, nothing more. With premium, each reported position is also added to the tracker's track. A track recorded while you had premium stays after the subscription ends: it is yours, and it is kept until you clear it. You can clear a tracker's history yourself at any time, and download it first as a GPX, KML or GeoJSON file.

Who sees a tracker. You choose per tracker: your own team (the default), or everyone in the game. Referees see every tracker in a game, exactly as they see every player's position.

Deleting a tracker. You can delete a tracker's account from inside Hound Commander (Delete the tracker's account), or switch it off from Trackers on the web. Deleting your own account also deletes every tracker account you own, together with their position histories - you do not have to remove them one by one.

Storage and security

Your data is stored on our server. Passwords are hashed. We take reasonable measures to protect your information.

Data retention and deletion

How long we keep your data. We keep your account information, your games and map items, and your game tracks for as long as your account exists - the tracks are part of what the app is for, and they stay available so that you can go back to an earlier game. We do not set a fixed expiry date on them. Tracker tracks are kept the same way, until you clear them or delete your account. Diagnostic reports are an exception: they are deleted automatically after 90 days.

Deleting your data. You can delete your account at any time from within the app: open the app's settings and choose Delete account. This is permanent and cannot be undone. When you delete your account we permanently remove your location history (including your tracks), invitation records and purchase entitlements, and we remove the personal information (e-mail, nickname) from your account record. Any tracker accounts you own are deleted at the same time, along with their position histories.

What stays, and why you can be comfortable with it. A few things have to remain, because deleting them would break the games of the people you played with: the games and teams you created, and the map items you drew, stay in place for the other participants. They are anonymised - they are no longer connected to you in any way. Your name is replaced by "Deleted user", your e-mail address is gone, and nothing that remains can be traced back to you or used to identify you. The account can never be logged in to again.

Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data. The fastest way to delete your account and data is the in-app option above. For other requests, contact us at the address below.

Children

The app is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
